If you’re looking for an exciting opportunity to build your portfolio and gain experience in marketing and public relations, consider Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center in Daytona Beach.

Working in health care doesn’t mean sitting behind a desk all day. One minute you may write about a new medical procedure, the next day you may be involved in filming brain surgery or organizing a grand opening event. Our key services include cardiology, cancer, emergency services, neurology, obstetrics, rehab and women’s services.

As an intern you'll:

• Assist with special events, speaking engagements, celebrity appearances, tours and news conferences

• Work closely with media relations, government/community relations, foundation and volunteer services

• Manage our presence on various social media sites

• Write copy for brochures, newsletters and other projects

This is a paid internship (one semester only) with a maximum of 20 hours per week. Excellent planning and writing skills are required and a writing test will be given during the interview. Additionally, you MUST register for internship credits through your university and you MUST commit to 20 hours per week. Juniors or seniors in the field of marketing, public relations, and communications strongly preferred.

Crescent Star Rising Consultants has two immediate Intern positions open for energetic and dedicated Interns who want to gain insight into the public relations profession working within the nonprofit and entertainment sectors.

 

Interns will support the public relations specialist in areas to include administrative support; however, are not limited to working with press clips, creating and updating media lists, research; to more challenging tasks such as pitching media, writing press releases, obtaining sponsorships, branding, assisting with special events, artist/client relations and possible crisis management. Interns also will be required to attend events, pre/post events planning meetings and press conferences.

 

Responsibilities and learning opportunities:

  • Branding and Campaign Development

  • Special Events – from concept through execution

  • Media Relations, Media List Development

  • Promotions and Buzz Marketing

  • Basic Photography, Video and Graphic Design

  • Writing and Distributing Press Releases

  • Online Marketing & E-blasts

  • Proofread a wide variety of documents

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or working towards Degree in public relations, film, journalism, mass communications, nonprofit, marketing, music, theater, advertising, business

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, Publisher) and the Internet is required

  • Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop or other related Graphics and Professional Filmmaking software is a plus

  • Exceptional written, oral and interpersonal communication skills – knowledge of AP style preferred

  • Strong organizational, research, editing (proof reading/non linear editing in production) and listening skills

  • A professional image and attitude

  • Must have knowledge of the media

  • Ability to multi-task and transition to new projects when priorities change

  • Ability to thrive in an environment that values independent judgment under the general supervision of a designated supervisor  

  • Extremely creative thinker – special events planner, attention to detail, understands deadlines are final

  • Be a team player and committed to the success of the project/event and strong desire to learn       

Schedule and working environment:

Student Interns will have to have an ability to work flexible hours, 10 to 20 hours a week (including possible weekends, evenings and holidays during semester as needed), with a mutually agreed upon schedule to accommodate the student’s academic schedule for a three or four credit hour internship. Internships may be renewed and/or extended based upon performance along with possible stipend if extended. Working environment is business casual in a home office in Deltona, FL. Student must have own transportation, dress in a professional manner and be on time as well as dependable.

PR, Design, Applications Opportunities
