FPRA Program to Highlight The Brown’s Transformational Rebrand
The FPRA Volusia/Flagler Chapter will host a professional development program on Thursday, May 21, featuring Tabitha Schmidt, CEO of The Brown, who will present on the museum’s ongoing rebrand.
Schmidt will discuss the institution’s transition from the Museum of Arts and Sciences (MOAS) to The Cici & Hyatt Brown Museum of Art, Science & History. The rebrand represents a broader strategic vision aimed at reimagining the museum’s campus and positioning it for long-term growth and community impact.
The program will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Art Museum at The Brown, located at 352 S. Nova Road in Daytona Beach.
Attendees will gain insight into the rebranding process, including key strategies, challenges, and lessons learned. The presentation is designed to provide valuable takeaways for public relations and marketing professionals considering similar initiatives.
Schmidt joined the museum in 2022 after serving as CEO of Powell Gardens, a botanical garden in Kansas City. During her tenure, she led a strategic shift that increased attendance and membership while guiding long-term planning efforts.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in art from Baker University and a master’s degree in art history from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Schmidt is active in several professional and community organizations, including the Daytona Beach Rotary, Daytona Beach Chamber of Commerce, The Boss Lady, and the Florida Association of Museums.
The FPRA program offers an opportunity for professionals to learn from a significant regional rebranding effort and explore how strategic communications can support organizational transformation.
